On the first, dad got admitted to the ICU of the local hospital. His heart beat was around 260 (normal rate: 75)

The doctors and nurses are excellent. They have stabilised him and brought him back to normal. But he has a fair few complications. He is severely diabetic, has high blood pressure and is severely asthamatic. The doctors believe that some of the medication “collided” and set the heart beating at almost four times its normal rate.

His system has received quite a shock. Though it is not a heart attack, this is fairly serious. The docs are keeping him till Monday at the Hospital, under observation. He is cheerful. I met him yesterday and he said that he falls asleep by counting nurses:)

The last two days have been a sense of virtual reality for me. I have been doing things at home, the hospital and work – but there is this feeling of being suspended in space and time. A very stoned feeling for want of a better word.

It is difficult to come to terms with the fact that your parents are mere mortals. Be it in terms of morality or in terms of mortality.
