Wouldn’t it be simpler to stop the torture?

Mobile phones fitted with digital cameras have been banned in US army installations in Iraq on orders from Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, Britain’s The Business newspaper reported yeterday.

Quoting a Pentagon source, the paper said the US Defence Department believes that some of the damning photos of US soldiers abusing Iraqis at Abu Ghraib prison near Baghdad were taken with camera phones.

Fool’s Paradise

In an article entitled Bravery, Blood & Lies writer Ralph Peters opines:

“The media leaps to validate enemy lies that a “wedding party” was attacked. Not one voice in the media raised the possibility that terrorists willing to slaughter 3,000 civilians on 9/11 might be perfectly willing to murder a dozen or so Arab women and children to set up a propaganda victory.”

Truly funny:).
I can just imagine two Al Qaeda teams plotting this -
Leader 1 : how do we make the Americans ambush us ?
Leader 2 : lets’ have a marriage party
The Al Qaeda are not going to destroy the US. The US is going to do it themselves. .
Accidents happen in war - one doesn’t deny that. But this kind of ametuer cover up is probably why the US is so reviled inwhich ever country it has bases.

Did Iranian Hawks Lure US Hawks to Iraq?

   Posted by: gargi    in Uncategorized

The latest that seems to be coming out of an increasingly sordid war, is that the American’s blue eyed lap dog - Ahmad Chalabi was an Iranian Spy. This does not come out of a Liberal, or a loony or a conspiracy theory net rag / website but the The CIA.

After the war is declared, after peace is declared, after a full year has passed and God knows how many soldiers and civillians have died, come these gems. Excuse me, the man on whose word the US went to war, the head of the Iraqi National Congress - the man who would have been king, or atleast king maker, an Iranian spy. The Guardian quotes an US intelligence officer on this:

“It’s pretty clear that Iranians had us for breakfast, lunch and dinner,”

The belief is that the Iranians usd Chalabi to feed disinformation to the US Government -that fell for it hook, line and sinker. The reason: the Iranians wanted to get rid of Saddam to impose a Shia government in the country. The reasoning seems slightly far fetched. Tehran seems to have too many internal problems to want to take on a whole new country.

It seems more likely that they adapted the old saying “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” to “if my enemies fought with each other - they would leave me alone. and if they are both bloodied and wounded - then I can pick up the pieces.”

The Iranians have come out looking like a nation of extremely good chess players. The US administration has, as usual, been caught with its pants down

It is scary to believe that this bunch of people - ably guided and led by George W Bush - have nuclear weapons at their disposal. Instead of saying that third world nations should not possess nuclear weapons - the ruling should be nations with idiot heads should be stripped of nuclear weapons for the tenure of the administration.

It will be interesting to see what the reaction to this would be? Is it going to be a reprise of a western - the most likely candidate then would be The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
