She asked for it…..

In a scathing editorial in their mouthpiece Samna, it observes that ” the dressing habits of the youth, [...]

last couple of days my myrealbox.com id has been innundated with mysterious mail. most of them are zip files and get sent straight to the bin. The e-mail id says that it is from someone at fbi.gov. Somehow they didn’t strike me as spammers.

Apparently we are turning into a planet of zombies. The Guardian reports:
The distractions of constant emails, text and phone messages are a greater threat to IQ and concentration than taking cannabis, according to a survey of befuddled volunteers.
Doziness, lethargy and an increasing inability to focus reached “startling” levels in the trials by 1,100 people, who [...]

In the musical, South Pacific - one of the songs is on bigotry. The lines go:
You’ve got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff’rent shade,
You’ve got to be carefully taught.

Post Apocalyptic Futures

Two very different Post Apocalyptic films are a part of my top 10 science fiction movies of all times. Both very different in nature, treatment and a view of how the world will be in the not so distant future.
One is Bladerunner. This is a dark, over populated future, where most people look Asian. It [...]

Travelling around the Indian blogosphere over the last week or so, found a number of posts that were saying “No to Musharraf”. The banner goes - “you are not welcome evil dictator.” and ends with “you may find yourself in India, but it is not in my name”
Funnily this is the same set of bloggers [...]

Summer in Mumbai….

Posted by gargi on 10 Apr 2005 | Tagged as: Uncategorized

… this year seems to be hotter than normal. It must be the extensive roadworks that are happening across the board that is causing all of us in the city to wilt under the heat. It feels like 40 degrees (celcius) and about 90% humidity. And it is truly unbearable. It is only the [...]

An entire festival dedicated to the Big B - in New York this month. The 11 film retrospective inlcudes some of my favourites - Anand, Deewar (the old one, not the ghastly new one thank god), Abhimaan, Amar Akbar Anthony.
They have left out some gems. Mili, Laawaris, Trishul, Do Anjaane(the start of a brilliant [...]
