The Spirit of 9/11

Posted by: gargi   in And Finally ..., Politics

George W Bush is hoping that the spirit of 9-11will help him get out of the mess that his administration’s ineptitude has landed him in. Imagine a government so incompetent, that it makes Vilasrao Deshmukh look good!

I wonder whether invoking the spirit of 9-11 means a) blaming Iraq for Katrina or b) going to war with Iran to divert attention from the fact that the system was caught napping?

Or, the spirit of 9-11 could also mean a good Christmas kind of spirit where all old friends could land up with reconstruction contracts.

Maybe it means all three. It should be interesting to see the spin on this one!

I know that it is said that a country deserves the leadership that it gets - but the Americans are by and large decent people. nice people. and surely they deserve better than this!

ouch harsh. it isn’t funny. it is terribly sad.
all the patriotic cover that happened in the US after 9-11, no one asked why was the government caught napping. they just assumed that it was an outside enemy. such a big plan and conspiracy, right under the noses of the US government and all that the american people get is a cover up and a war in the wrong country.
here if the parliament gets bombed or something, we atleast have the right to ask why. and be skeptical of what the government says.

I think this means President Bush is going to respond to the Louisiana hurricane by sending troops to the wrong state. He’ll say he is searching for winds of mass destuction. Then when he doesn’t find any, he’ll explain that it’s better to deal with the hurricane in another state than to have to deal with it in Louisiana.

Any more questions?

The spirit of 9/11 means anyone who criticizes him during a disaster is unpatriotic / America’s enemy
