Married at 18, Ranu, from Rajasthan, is now fiercely protective of her only remaining offspring, a baby boy.
Yet she and her husband Muktar have no remorse about the fate of their “missing” daughters. “I will kill other children if they are girls,” Ranu said, explaining that she is too poor to pay for their weddings.

Wow. I’m saddened to see this still happening and yet not surprised that it is. Its a vicious cycle that poor people have unfortunately fallen into. There is much to discuss in terms of this situation but unfortunately thats all we seem to do these days. Action is required and while some organizations are working to alleviate this problem, they don’t get enough support or funding.
