Villages & communities recovering from the Tsunami, villages and communities coping with a changing environment that can have serious repercussions on their lives and livelihood. ….
The first thing that strikes about Sri Lanka is that it is so very beautiful. the second thing that strikes you is the silence — people don’t drive with their hands on the horn, the third thing that strikes you is that it is beautiful, and the fourth and the fifth…..

Sri Lanka is beautiful. The people even more so.
I took a holiday in Sri Lanka few years ago. Travelled by car from Anuradhapura in the north to Galle in the south. It was fantastic.
I went there during the ceasefire and it was peaceful, but very soon the island was engulfed in strife once again. What a tragedy!

Natural beauty is indeed destroyed by unnatural, mostly of urban origin, noises. I am hoping there will be more pictures!

@rada - it is. the people are friendly, the place is beautiful. i went from columbo to nuwara eliya and then columbo to humantota — both were breathtaking in their own way…
@deepak - safe is relative. i was there for 7 days and it was completely safe. so long as one avoids the deep jungles or the northern province, i guess…
