Sagarika Ghose – alienating her core audience ?

Posted on January 30, 2011 | Category :India | 15 Comments

If you were heading a market segment – English News – that is consumed by 0.4% of the total TV audience – 11% consume English content btw – then, logically, you will do everything possible to keep pissing off the bulk of your audience ie. men. won’t you ?

.But, obviously leading journalists don’t have a revenue responsibility …

It is also sad that Ms.Ghose has so many ugly men in her life.
50% of my life is filled with Indian men – family, friends, colleagues, students, clients, associates, employees, consultants – and they are some of the nicest, most wonderful people you can meet ….. not ugly at all …

maybe, she needs to start viewing the world with a new lens, instead of a news lens … there is beauty, decency and kindness everywhere …

Finally, absolutism – unless it is fondness for the vodka brand – is a bad idea and generalizations are worse … some one with her experience should know better …

Given that men are from Mars and women from Venus, and since I have never met an ugly woman (I don’t think one exists), it naturally follows that *all* men are ugly, and I accept that. But why pick on *Indian* men? Has Sagarika seen George Bush, Adolf Hitler or Justin Bieber?

there is a saying in tamil that translates as “for a woman character is beauty, and for a man work” or udyoga lakshanam …:)
ugliness is behavior and not looks -
if a man had made that comment on Indian women – we would have had his head on a platter by now surrounded by cherries and garnishing :)

Perhaps she momentarily forgot that she is married to an Indian man!

This post reminds me of the uninformed hordes that went after Shashi Tharoor for the ‘cattle class” remark.
