My column in today’s DNA

Pakistan fighting terror was a bit like a bunch of ladies of tradable virtue endorsing the need for chastity.

It has been a fortnight since a team of American Navy SEALS landed in Abbottabad, smashed into the home of Osama Bin Laden — right next to the Pakistani military academy, shot him, buried his body at sea and made their way back to wherever they came from. A decade earlier, Osama’s organisation had planned and executed what was the most public attack on America’s sense of Security and Self Worth. Ramming passenger planes filled with civilians into commercial and military buildings, the terrorists brought to the United States terrorism that attacks large numbers of civilians and causes panic and death. At that time, Indians reacted with numb horror combined with horrified fascination as the Twin Towers imploded, but you could hear murmurs of ‘now you know what it feels like’. India, after all, had been facing terrorism in its leading cities and towns for the last three decades. The West told us that terror happened because people wanted self determination, and that we should negotiate instead of cracking down. When they were attacked, the response changed. It was War — albeit a war against “terror”.

  1. The article pin points correctly on the nature of Pakistan; however, I feel it is important now for us (Indians) to formulate our response to pain caused to us (Indians) by our enemies (Pakistan and its elder brother Terrorist) and not to look towards US (yes, United State of America

The fascination and fixation towards US in India has been the real problem and much larger then terrorism exported by Pakistan. Also this fascination is not restricted among politicians, pseudo moderates and civil society only, this virus is prevalent among majority of population knowingly or unknowingly. There are two set of group who advocates India’s reply to terrorism. The Cong and its lickers (set of few moderates and opinion leaders included) always wants to seek permission before even raising eyebrow against Pakistan or mourning to death of India’s very own citizens. And then there is another set of group, so called aggressive lot, whose only definition of reply to Pakistan is “See what US did when attacked, so we CAN also and SHOULD also do the same”. Both the replies when looked in isolation seems pole apart in tone and intention, but look closely and analyse both are dependent on US directly or indirectly. This dependence on US to act in India’s interest has exposed the colonial mindset of every Indian and not just the ruling class (as there is lacuna of administrative or governing class in India for now except in couple of states).
The charge sheet filed in US court bears more authentic value than 11-14 dossiers send by India itself, irony is we feel vindicated more through US charge sheet and not through our investigation. The PM’s assurance that there will no American type operation, does not suggests that we are soft on terror, but it suggest we are shameless, I used the word WE consciously, for CONGRESS does represent India at least in the international quarters (how much ever we hate it). The comparison of two act is itself so pathetic – one is act of terrorism and another an act of Pakistan to wage a war against India in disguise The restraint showed by Indian government in difficult time has increased our respect on international frontier is nothing but self patting PIG’s rectum. Till the time we, Indians will not develop pro-Indian and Independent foreign policy to safeguard our interest, sovereignty and most important our self respect, India will be taken as bunch of idiots who will not been taken seriously by any country and I repeat any country. Then B the response of talking or whacking Pakistan – it should Indian decision with no US fixation. Also it is important the response should Indian, and not individual’s wish, whim and fancy
