Mutt & JD
My two bachhas’ - my kid brother Jayadev (15 years younger than me:) and rani the dog in our life having an intense discussion about life, the universe and everything else
Rani is now all of 9 months old - extremely naughty and very intelligent. If i shut the door of my room she can open it from outside - I kid you not. She stands like a biped, uses her fore paws as hands, presses the lever on the door and bingo she is in my room.
A few weeks ago she met two other female dogs (i hate the other word - i would rather use it on Sushma Swaraj) - Angel and Sparkle. Angel is a gorgeous Black Labrador, and Sparkle is a light golden retreiver. And miraculously they have become friends. Every evening, at around 6 they meet up outside our building - and prance around for half an hour. It is truly the most amazing sight on earth.Three pups - each weighing close to a ton:) - laughing, frolicking and playing. As my dad would say - truly a sight for the Gods.

Rani has decided that my room is her room. she sleeps on one of my old bathrobes, and an old lungi of mine is her safety blanket.
Yesterday appa and amma got her a rawhide contraption as a treat. Something that she can chew on. And our little madam took to it like a dog to a bone:). chew, chew, chew
At sleep time, i confiscted it, put it into a plastic pouch and put it on top of the fridge. Rani looked at me with pleading eyes, but for a change i stood my ground.
cut to madam dragging her bedding from my room to my brothers’ with her mouth. my mom and i watched her from the Hall, bemused
I had to pick her up hold her and tell her that i loved her and that i would give her the damn thing in the morning. Mad her bed, and rocked her to sleep.
Maybe, mom is right. i should go and have a baby. It might be easier:)
Sphere: Related ContentRani is a comical character. a bundle of energy. and the most innocent pair of doggy eyes that you can see. And incredibly bright. She tripped over her leash the other day, and she got up. picked up the leash in her mouth and walked on. My jaw hit the floor, and bounced up again.
My hands look like i have been in a jungle full of thorny branches.
The trainer ditched us. so i have taken on training her. Ouch.
And oh! she has decided that i am her main slave.
Sphere: Related ContentTassie doesn’t like Diwali too much. can’t say that i blame her.
She finds it too noisy. everytime a neigbour or his brat sets of another set of loud fire crackers after 10 p.m. she gets a start. Atleast she isn’t cowering under the bed.
Her Diwali gift was a set of bones - she loves them. we love them even more - she has stopped nipping at our bones (the one under our skin)
The trainer starts on the first of November. he will come home to train her (and us, i hope).
Sphere: Related ContentTassie Rani jumps at anything that moves - during her playtime. Play time is any time when she is not eating, sleeping or crapping.
Last night she chased her own tail - till she dropped off to sleep with exhaustion. This evening, when i took her out for her last walk - she chased her own shadow.
Yesterday was the first time one of us had her to ourselve. Me. The rest of the family went out. and i was babysitting a pup. And she was an active little thing. grabbed the washing, chased a butterfly, pounced on the ball, upturned her water bowl… when dad got back at 1 in the afternoon, he found both of us crashed.
Thinking about it makes me exhausted
Sphere: Related ContentWe have decided to rename Rani as Tassie. Its’ easier on the tongue - we anyway end up calling her Tassie most of the time
The earlier one was St.Tassie of Saraswati B (My apartment block)
THis one is the Tasmanian Devil
I have lost 3 kilos just running after her, and bending down to have little chats with her. a 5 feet 8′ person having a chat with a 8 inch puppy. great fun:)
