I have had a mobile phone from the time I got locked out of my building by a sleeping watchman after a late night edit- almost 15 years ago. In those days phones used to weigh a ton, cost Rs.16 for outgoing, Rs.8 for incoming and a queen’s ransom for an SMS. It had allowed storage space for 200 odd numbers – It was, a long, long time ago…<\/p>\n

Now, mobiles possibly have more processing power than the room sized computers that sent the first space mission to the moon ….<\/p>\n

I was telling someone yesterday, how the first PC that i actually bought was a Mac- it had 4 MB Ram, 40 MB Hard Disk Space and i paid close to 1000 GBP for it. A few months later i got a 80 MB external HDD for GBP 2000 (1992) – and i was thrilled to bits :).
\nLast month i got a 8 GB thumb drive for something like Rs.750\/-<\/p>\n

Today, an average phone does pretty much what the PC did 5 years ago, possibly more.

\nI have been clicking pictures for a fairly long time – moved from film (which i actually hated) to the chip the way a duck takes to water. Love the digital format. the one thing that I have actually refused to do – is take pictures on my mobile.<\/p>\n

But, yesterday I changed my stance. I took part in the Nokia N8<\/a><\/strong> – urbanspree city tour – and was quite impressed. There were 3 teams of 2 each – a tech blogger & a non tech blogger (who also photoblogged) and we were testing out the phone and uploading pics on line, using the phone to find directions and so on.<\/p>\n

Good fun. It is an easy to use device – i got used to it in some 10 minutes. and shooting was a revelation – Here are some of the pics, the rest are here<\/a><\/strong>

While I am not going to give up shooting on the DSLR anytime soon – i can see myself using the N8 more regularly to take pics. Oh btw – the phone also allows you to make calls, and send messages \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
