The Gujarat earth quake a few years ago was a case in point, as is the Tsunami disaster this year. Actors coming to gether to raise monies via concerts, broadcasters coming together to give away airtime, and sportstars pitching in with matches. The next ten days is full of spectacle. Hope that this leads to decent sums being collected for charity. And I hope that someone somewhere is monitoring how the monies collected is being used.<\/p>\n<p>But, the event that I am most hopeful about is the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cry.org\/telethon\/homepage.asp\">Cry Telethon<\/a><\/strong>. Loosely based on the BBC&#8217;s Children in Need initiative, the Cry Telethon has its first public outing on the 26th of January from 1 p.m. on Sony Entertainment Television.
