Two brilliant quotes from two of my oft read blog sites.
\nThis one is from Crooked Timber<\/strong><\/a>, commenting on Thomas Friedman’s new book, The World is Flat<\/strong><\/a>:<\/p>\n

It takes a long, long apprenticeship laboring the Augean stables of Globollocks to write a sentence like this:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The walls had fallen down and the Windows had opened, making the world much flatter than it had ever been\u00e2\u20ac\u201dbut the age of seamless global communication had not yet dawned.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\nAmazing. Tom Friedman is a God. No, not a God so much as a moustachioed force of nature, pumped up on the steroids of globalization, a canary in the coalmine of an interconnected era whose tentacles are spreading over the face of a New Economy savannah where old lions are left standing at their waterholes, unaware that the young Turks\u00e2\u20ac\u201dand Indians\u00e2\u20ac\u201dhave both hands on the wheel of fortune favors the brave face the music to their ears to the, uh, ground.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

ROTFL over and over again. I must read the book now. I need a good laugh:). I don’t think that i will be able to read a single chapeter without grinning ear to ear thinking about being pumped up with the “steroids of globalisation<\/em><\/strong>”
\nA link <\/a>left for this review is even funnier. Read them both. And think about them if you have the urge to read the book.
\nThe second one is from Marginal Revolution<\/a><\/strong>. and it is on Corruption:<\/p>\n

Then Suharto looked at [James] Wolfensohn. “You know, what you regard as corruption in your part of the world, we regard as family values.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So true especially in India. Don’t know about the rest of the world. Just look at the families Yadav (laloo), Thackeray, Nehru Gandhi – etal. And corruption is not just taking money under the table – it is also nepotism.
