The Left has decided to make its support to the UPA government even more conditional than it already is. Every major step forward in the last 12 odd months has seen this kind of ‘gun to the head behaviour’. A whole lot of cattle trading results. And then a watered down version of wthe original idea gets passed.
\nMaybe it is time that the Government called the bluff. Call for elections. Ask for a clear mandate. It is most likely that the Congress will get it.
\nThere are many reasons why elections may work in the Congress favour.
\na) the economy is booming.
\nb) so is the stock market
\nc) The BJP is in the process of auto canibalizing itself.
\nd) who will vote for the Left – apart from Kerala and WB.
\ne) Lalloo is severely weakened.<\/p>\n
