When natural disaster strikes it does not discriminate country a from country b. Suffering and pain and grief and loss extends across the land mass. So does the biting cold, the lack of shelter and the inability for government mechanisms to provide adeqeute aid on time.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time a disaster weary world seems to have forgotten the fact that in one of the poorest regions of the world people are waking up to one more cold morning in the open. Maybe, the blogging community can help. Desipundit has put out a call for blog quake day &#8211; a means of harnessing the power of the blogospher to bring relief to those displaced by the quake.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThis from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.desipundit.com\/2005\/10\/22\/blog-quake-day\/\"><strong>Desi Pundit<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Taking inspiration from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.instapundit.com\/\">Instapundit <\/a><\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthlaidbear.com\/index.php\">TTLB<\/a><\/strong>, and the massive donations they were able to collect for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthlaidbear.com\/archives\/2005\/08\/30\/katrina_blog_relief_day.php\"><strong>Katrina relief efforts<\/strong><\/a>, we are calling for a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.technorati.com\/search\/%22blog+quake+day%22\"><strong>BLOG QUAKE DAY<\/strong><\/a> on Wednesday, Oct 26, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>We request each of you to make a small post about the earthquake, and direct your readers to a suitable avenue for donating to the relief efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Every single dollar contributed, multiplied by the vast numbers of bloggers, will go a long way in helping these people rebuild their lives. Our experience of the last few weeks showed us that, no matter how small our blogs, and no matter how few our readers, the words we write and the way we use our blogs can have <a href=\"http:\/\/technorati.com\/search\/IIPM\">far-reaching consequences<\/a>. We learnt not to underestimate our powers.
