{"id":5028,"date":"2016-12-19T11:46:28","date_gmt":"2016-12-19T06:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/calamur.org\/gargi\/?p=5028"},"modified":"2016-12-19T11:46:28","modified_gmt":"2016-12-19T06:16:28","slug":"brief-review-rogue-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calamur.org\/gargi\/2016\/12\/19\/brief-review-rogue-one\/","title":{"rendered":"Brief Review &#8211; Rogue One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calamur.org\/gargi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/r1.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5029\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calamur.org\/gargi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/r1.jpg?resize=560%2C800\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"800\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many moons ago, i watched a war film called <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Operation_Daybreak\">Operation Daybreak<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>the story of Czech partisans &#8211; fighting for the British Army &#8211; whose mission it is to assassinate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.historyplace.com\/worldwar2\/biographies\/heydrich-biography.htm\"><strong>Reinhard Heydrich<\/strong><\/a> . Heydrich was the brain behind the plan for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ushmm.org\/outreach\/en\/article.php?ModuleId=10007704\"><strong>Final Solution<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; a soultion that would see millions of Jews being sent to the gas chamber. A man who was truly evil, and without a moral compass. \u00a0Operation Daybreak\u00a0was a movie about individual heroism, and a mission that is greater than your own life. I have seen many such films base on true life incidents of war, but Operation Daybreak has stuck in my memory, possibly because it was the first one that I saw in that genre.<\/p>\n<p>When i began watching Rogue One yesterday, it was impossible not to make comparisons. A well organised, united, \u00a0highly militarised enemy. Rebels who are not organised, not united, and have weapons cobbled together from leftovers. And, a mission to destroy a weapon of mass destruction, that would save the universe.<\/p>\n<p>If you look at the film and ask, what is the film about &#8211; it is about heroes, who fight for something they believe in, for a better tomorrow. A film about hope. IT is also a war film, in the true sense of a war film. A small squad of misfits who goes to take on the Goliath military operation- think <strong><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"The Guns of Navarone (Special Edition)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Guns-Navarone-Special-David-Niven\/dp\/0767821785%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3D0767821785\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"amazon\">Guns of Navarone<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The film had a magnificent set of characters, and unlike most films in recent times, i wished that the movie was slightly longer so that i could get to know them better. All in all, story wise, a much better outing on the franchise, than the last 4 films. I would still rate <strong><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Star Wars Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980 &amp; 2004 Versions, 2-Disc Widescreen Edition)\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Star-Wars-Episode-Versions-Widescreen\/dp\/B000FQJAJG%3FSubscriptionId%3D0G81C5DAZ03ZR9WH9X82%26tag%3Dzemanta-20%26linkCode%3Dxm2%26camp%3D2025%26creative%3D165953%26creativeASIN%3DB000FQJAJG\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"amazon\">Empire Strikes Back<\/a> <\/strong>as the best <strong><a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Star Wars\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Star_Wars\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"wikipedia\">Star Wars<\/a><\/strong> Film, this comes very close in toppling that number one status.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a star wars fan &#8211; this is a must watch.
