I have been reading a fair bit on UBI, and when i read pieces like this, <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/amazons-last-mile-1820451224?utm_medium=sharefromsite&amp;utm_source=Gizmodo_twitter\"><strong>on Amazon&#8217;s Last Mile<\/strong><\/a>, it becomes all the more apparent why UBI will cease being a fringe economic idea, and will be adopted in the near future. Primarily to stave off social disorder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are two very good pieces on the media, and the future of media earnings. The first looks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2017\/11\/17\/media\/media-consolidation-fox-mashable-time\/index.html?source=linkedin&amp;lipi=urn%3Ali%3Apage%3Ad_flagship3_profile_view_base_recent_activity_details_shares%3BRbLi8EvgRh6KsRbNEXIssA%3D%3D\"><strong>growing anxiety in the media<\/strong> <\/a>in dealing with audiences who don&#8217;t want to pay. The second looks at Amazon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fool.com\/investing\/2017\/11\/18\/amazon-has-bad-news-for-cord-cutters.aspx\"><strong>backing out of launching an online subscription TV service<\/strong> <\/a>because they won&#8217;t make money. It makes me wonder about the boom in the media, right now, fuelled by &#8216;burning&#8217; vast amounts of cash and no revenue model.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Closer home, the Rajasthan CM Vasundra Raje Scindia, <a href=\"http:\/\/indianexpress.com\/article\/india\/padmavati-vasundhara-raje-smriti-irani-protests-padmavati-release-cbfc-censor-board-4943657\/\"><strong>seems to be casting doubts on the competence of the Censor Board<\/strong><\/a> in requesting the censorship of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rani_Padmini\"><strong>Padmavati<\/strong><\/a>, a commercial film, based on protests by a group that hasn&#8217;t seen the film.\u00a0\u00a0The Hindu looks at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/elections\/gujarat-2017\/the-parivartan-brotherhood-how-three-young-men-have-queered-the-pitch-for-the-bjp-in-gujarat\/article19977437.ece\"><strong>3 young men giving the BJP sleepless nights<\/strong> <\/a>in Gujarat.\u00a0The Indian Express has a <a href=\"http:\/\/indianexpress.com\/26-11\/\"><strong>good series<\/strong> <\/a>on those left behind, after the 26\/11 massacre.<\/p>\n<p>The power of money &#8211; China&#8217;s brute financial power<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2017\/04\/richard-gere-hollywood-china?utm_source=zergnet.com&amp;utm_medium=referral&amp;utm_campaign=zergnet_1654048&amp;mbid=synd_zergnet\"><strong> prevents Hollywood from casting Richard Gere<\/strong><\/a>, because of his involvement with the Tibetan cause. And, as big business and rich governments increase their stronghold, we may end up seeing a lot more regulation in the media, especially in terms of who owns what (or what all).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And, finally, if like me, you are looking for a\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techradar.com\/news\/mobile-computing\/tablets\/10-best-tablet-pcs-in-the-world-today-1079603\"><strong>good tablet t<\/strong><\/a>o replace your last one &#8211; here is something that may help you decide &#8211; i am still undecided.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5918\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/calamur.org\/gargi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/News-media-standards.jpg?resize=640%2C358\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"358\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The NYT has a good piece on the Universal Basic Income Movement.
