The indefinite hunger strike reached its 7th day today withTenzing Gyatso Lepcha also being admitted to STNM hospital today. While Dawa and 2 others are still in STNM hospital, two are continuing their indefinite hunger strike at BL House.<\/p>\n

Months earlier, Dawa and Tenzing had gone on a historic 63 day indefinite hunger strike asking the government of Sikkim to review and scrap hydel projects coming up in Dzongu.<\/p>\n

The Government of Sikkim has announced that it is willing to scrap some of the projects in Dzongu but says that the Panan Hydel Project shall not be scrapped.<\/p>\n

The indefinite hunger strike continues yet again.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The protesters <\/strike>Satyagrahis <\/em><\/strong><\/a>are carrying out the hunger strike, because they believe the hydel projects will cause tremendous ecological demand (which it probably will).<\/p>\n
