{"id":921,"date":"2008-09-17T21:52:23","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T16:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/calamur.org\/gargi\/?p=921"},"modified":"2008-09-17T21:52:23","modified_gmt":"2008-09-17T16:52:23","slug":"we-are-what-we-click","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/calamur.org\/gargi\/2008\/09\/17\/we-are-what-we-click\/","title":{"rendered":"We are what we Click"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>.. and we (as in the online community) click a lot. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/news.yahoo.com\/s\/nm\/20080916\/wr_nm\/internet_book_life_dc\">Yahoo News<\/a><\/strong> had an interesting piece on audience trends.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;.surfing for p*rn had dropped to about 10 percent of searches from 20 percent a decade ago, and the hottest Internet searches now are for social networking sites.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p>\n &#8220;As social networking traffic has increased, visits to porn sites have decreased,&#8221; said Tancer, indicated that the 18-24 year old age group particularly was searching less for porn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My theory is that young users spend so much time on social networks that they don&#8217;t have time to look at adult sites.&#8221; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Other things that interests people &#8211; disasters, celebrities&#8230;.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;the current obsession with celebrities was also reflected through web data, with celebrity websites garnering more attention than sites devoted to religion, politics, well-being and diets combined &#8212; and no sign that this is waning.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>..the speed at which information spread on the Internet had meant in some cases it was consumers generating the story and the media is last to record it &#8212; or fact-check it. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>the need for virtual social bonding and virtual social interaction is greater than the need for virtual vicarious  2nd hand gratification !<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>.. and we (as in the online community) click a lot.
