Rediff & the art of Headline Writing

Posted by: gargi   in India, Media, Web

Today’s headlines from Rediff had me gasping. I thought that the loony left had taken over the Finance Ministry and there was George Fernandes style nationalisation on the cards. FM Targets Fortune 500 Comapnies - said the headline

Till I clicked the link - the headline read FM targets Fortune 500 companies for investment - and the story followed.

Everytime i get onto Rediff i get a pop up - Aaj ka Dhamaka - and pop up blockers are really of no use. Maybe their philo on head lines is the same - Aaj Ka Dhamaka. Given their level and quality of analysis - maybe they have to resort to this kind of cheap headline writing - to attract readers to click through.
