The Understatement of the Year Award

Posted by: gargi    in India, Politics

… goes to L.K.Advani - for stating that the BJP was going through a bad patch. Fatricidal warfare that would embarass the Congress (not to mention the Kauravas and Pandavas), Half a dozen MP’s caught on tape taking bribes, a sex scandal, the inability to act as either a party or an opposition, Uma Bharati, and of course Mr.Advani’s own habit of opening mouth and shoving foot inside… Bad Patch - sure thing.

Praise Be….

… somewhere in the world - someone has taken a spammer to court and won. I have all but ceased writing on media musings because of spammers. And on this site too - despite heavy anti spam plugins - spammers still manage to get through.

And when i see spam in my inbox - a red filter appears in front of my eyes. Unbidden. I guess this is spam rage - the on liine version of road rage.

So boquets to he who took on on-line marketeers (sounds so much nicer than vermin or spammer). And may his tribe increase.

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

   Posted by: gargi    in Books

A few months ago one of dad’s friend’s gifted him this book, which has been gathering oodles of dust on the book shelf.

Yesterday, finding nothing light to read - I picked it out of the bookshelf, dusted it, and tried to read it.

Tried is the key word here. I managed 3 whole chapters before I gave up. Part spiritual mumbo jumbo, part management gobbledegook it is a scary read. The prose is turgid, the characterisation worse and the self help out of Yoda’s school of gurudom.

The monk should have pledged his ferrari and taken writing lessons. Seriously!
