Over heard at a party yesterday:
whiney voice: but it is raining heavily!
bored response: what do you expect – it is monsoons.
The party was at Lavanya and Anand’s new place in Yari Road. Lots of people turned up. most had exciting rain stories to tell. Many had walked back through neck deep water. There was palpable relief at surving the whole thing. There was also complete gallows humour through the evening.
But, to give whiney voice its due – it was raining non stop. And heavily. This morning, as the rain subsided slightly – i left for home – Andheri (E). I was travelling back by rick, and the roads were water logged. Not as bad as Tuesday, but waterlogged all the same. Juhu – near Tian – had water that was getting a Honda City to bob up and down. When you see a vehicle weighing over a ton demonstrating Archimedes Law on a Sunday after the deluge, then there is something that says “oh no, not again”.
View from the rick windscreen – this morning 10 amish:)
I wouldn’t really go out today, unless i completely and absolutely had to. There is enough chaos on the streets without me adding to it.
yeah when one feel things returning to normal.. Again it starts pouring
town side there wasn’t much water logging probably coz of … planned old drainage system .. only bad part was not getting morning newspaper and milk etc which was nothing compared to so much damage everywhere ..
worst thing when u expect the cell phone and all to work in emergency when u need them the most they don’t
just hope people stay calm and stay indoors – like you say, enough chaos outside without junta adding to it…
been watching news on tv all day here in Madras 🙁
I had an idea. Rather disastrous but not very damaging when you limit it just to imagination.
You know, we could allow the water to stay in the streets, hip deep, and Mumbai would be like Venice. Wouldn’t it be great? here they were planning to make this Shangai and it wud’ve become a superb Venice!
(And no one would complain about Bad roads in mumbai again)
I had one more idea. A bit insensitive, but what the heck, its a marketing advertising idea for Water Kingdom. Next year on 26th July
The print ad copy goes
“You had great fun walking in the water din You.
Come to Water Kingdom and relive your experience
25% Discount to all couples celebrating 1st anniversary”
Hope the spirit of mumbai triumphs.. in all this..
