Two stories on further education.
One is about a 12th standard topper who quits formal education.
…Urvi Pithadia, 17, has been forced to discontinue her studies just a week after joining junior college. Nobody there volunteered to help the wheelchair-bound girl in and out of classrooms and elevators.
Urvi is suffering from muscular dystrophia, a genetic disorder which weakens muscles. It’s impossible for her to move around on her own.
After her SSC triumph, she enrolled herself at SNDT’s College of Arts in Vile Parle. “Even though there was elevator facility at the college, Urvi required someone to push her wheelchair. There were college maids, but none of them ever helped Urvi even to the restroom. She felt utterly helpless and was so depressed, that we thought it was better for her to discontinue studies,” her mother, Mita, told DNA.
The second is about a girl who never recovered from the injuries inflicted by her teacher because she didn't want tuitions..
Rinky Kaushik, who was allegedly beaten by her teacher for refusing private tuitions, has died after remaining in coma for three months.
A teacher of the Dinkar Model School, Dhirendra Kumar Dinkar had allegedly thrashed her with a stick after she refused to attend his tuition classes.
I am speechless wordless. I can't even rant. WTF, WTF, WTF ?
such maniacs must be shot on the forehead. the punishment terms in india are really less, lethargy breeds in the judiciary and politics take over anything else in this country. shame on the @##@@#$s
I am going to submit this to Desipundit. Hopefully they’ll tag it.

On second thoughts, it would be nice if besides the news clip you post your thought/opinions/rants along with the incident.
That its your personalized opinion on how bad the things stand as of today. The teacher obviously needs to be tried for man slaughter.
thankyou tarun…
there are no opinions except the sheer horror at both incidents….
we claim to be a tolerant society that cares for its children….
the level of apathy regarding children, and society’s own response to it is mind boggling…
can you imagine a situation like in any other ‘civilised’ society — without citizens protesting….
i wish i can say we don’t care enough… but the sad truth is we don’t care at all !
Hi Srikanth
i don’t think that people are going to get shot for this…. i wouldn’t like to see vigilante justice either !
but, i understand your outrage… i felt the same way when i read the article…
Yes you are right, Gargi! We don’t care at all, as long as it doesn’t happen to our own children! When it does, we’ll act as if hell has broken loose; but in case of other children, it’s just another newspaper article for us, which we read, and discuss, like another Bollywood movie review, and forget about it.
We all feel bad about such incidents for a while, but how many of us will sit up and register our protests about these to responsible people/authorities?
It is a sad situation, indeed!
it is really sad
such incidents make me sometimes justify barbaric laws.
fast forward , that scumbag will be produced in court and the case will go on for 5/10 years and he will get sentenced for manslaughter or a lighter sentence and get off in another five
