the mobile revolution

   Posted by: gargi   in India

Today my rickshawalla gave me a heart attack - when he whipped out a mobile phone - at a signal - and had a conversation with a friend.
He told me “madam, aaj kal yeh bahut sasta ho gaya hai” (nowadays the service has become very cheap). Which they have.
I remember paying 16 rupees for a call like 2 years ago. and today i don’t even pay Rs.1.60. and for the lower income groups (average income rs.4500 per month) - it has become a convinient option of staying connected with family.

In Chandigarh the number of mobile phones is more than the number of fixed lines. A great & low cost way to connect people.
