The best way, if you are a Government, to divert attention from your fuck ups is to ensure that your armed forces is engaged outside its borders. So anyone who cribs and complains about your government can promptly be accused of being anti national. If your are a “Democracy” then you simply label the person/persons as “traitors” (or something very close) and wait for the people to boycott them. If you are a Dictatorship, then on grounds of anti-national behaviour, you arrest the person. put them behind bars. and know that despite the Amnesty Internationals and the Human Rights Watch the person will rot.
So what has brought on this diatrabe – well it is the Saudi Arabian Government’s proposal of sending in “Muslim” troops to Iraq – to prevent “those gangs, those terrorists and those criminals“ from disrupting the Arab world. . The first thing that I did when i heard the news was sat down and laughed for a full minute. and it wasn’t the smirk kind of laugh but a full throaty laugh – i love people with a sense of humour, you see. What is so funny about them sending troops, you may ask. Well look at the data:
The Saudi’s have single handedly done more to encourage Terrorism than any other power in the world. The US has funded, the Soviets have backed, but the Saudi’s have been brilliant – it was not a short term game that they played but the long term one. The Americans and the Soviets were ametuers in comparison to the House of Saud. They seeded, waited and harvested terrorsits across the world. Their Wahabi Madarassas have been the official univeristy of terror. And in this univeristy they taught students how to hate. And they taught them well. So in a Iraq that is increasingly becoming the Mecca for the terrorist, the arch terrorist wants to come in to keep order. This is like putting the Mafia in charge of the Treasury.
The Saudi’s have also run the most repressive Governemnt in the middle east. I had a friend whose mother was Scots and father Saudi – when they lived in Saudi Arabia the mother had no rights – not because she was white, but because she was a woman. They have crushed politcal dissent, they have literally purchased a population into acquiescence. This is the same Saudi Arabia that is going to send its troops to preserve Democracy in Iraq?
The Saudi Military is supposed to be heavily infiltrated by the Al Qaeda. The recent bombings and the cowardly murder of the American hostage Paul Johnson was supposed to be with the tacit approval of the Saudi Military. And they want to go in – and play a leadership role – to restore peace in Iraq?
So why do the Saudi’s want to go in. It is probably safe to say it is not oil. It is also safe to say that it is not to give contracts to friends who are going to fund their election campaign.
I would think that the primary reason for they desire to intervene is not to restore democracy, but to prevent democracy from being restored.
Another equally important reason, in my opinion, is because they want to divert attention from their own internal fuck ups. The Saudi’s are going through their own restoration of democracy movement that they are cracking down on rather heavily. There is a tussle within the ruling family on allowing “limited” democracy – which probably means that they are trying to figure out if peopel don’t need to ask permission before they visit the toilet. Now, what better way to divert attention from all this demccracy murmurs than involvement in a skirmish where Iraqi rebels and Uncle Osama’s Devils will start painting little targets on Saudi soldiers.
Finally, it is assumed that the average Iraqi – including the rebel forces – would prefer the other Muslims to the kaffir forces. What rubbish. The two poor Pakistanis that were executed today are both Muslims. In Sudan you have Arab Muslims killing African Muslims without any qualms. You have had Shias murdering Sunnis and vice versa for centuries. Yes, put to gether an alternative force that has international backing and that wouldn’t get into such a mess as the current occupation forces have. But, don’t for God’s sake give it religious connotations. It isn’t a question of Christian soldiers or Muslim soldiers or athiest soldiers keeping peace. If it starts becoming that …. it really bodes ill for future generations.
