As usual, there will be something for everyone at the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, 2008 – from workshop for kids, to traditional art forms, to literary events, to great street food, to performing arts.

For, those of you inclined towards writing, poetry and perfomance, Caferati has organised a bunch of contests :

  • SMS Poetry — 160-character poetry — About
  • Flash Fiction — very short stories — About
  • Flash Essays — essays for the Information Overload age — About
  • Poetry Slam — performance poetry, live and head-to-head — About

And, ta-daa!

  • The Open Book Pitch — Got a manuscript you’ve been aching to show a publisher? Have we got something for you! — About

All these contests are open to anyone, anywhere. However, the Poetry Slam is a live event at the Festival, so it’s a bit pointless to submit if you live elsewhere, unless you are prepared to travel to Kala Ghoda for the event at your own expense, if you are selected.

The deadline for all of them is midnight, IST, 3rd February, 2007.

I will be there catching up on the sights, the scenes, the art and the music. Am going to try and be there for some of the lit events….. ad definitely want to check out the exhibits and the walks… However, with the work load shooting up…. all these are intentions, and we all know about wishes and horses….. and this is the Kala Ghoda festival…

The official KGAF blog is up here, and you can check it on a regular basis for updates on the festival….

  1. Thanks to this blog post I found out about the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and the contests. I submitted an essay and a book proposal.

The essay did not win, but it reached the final cut. The book proposal has been chosen by one publishing house. Regardless of whether or not the book comes into being, I am thrilled that I got this far.

Just wanted to convey my heartfelt thanks, and let you know the reach of your blog.
