The Thirty Day Project – Day 28 – Channelising my inner Calvin :D

Days like this, thankfully, do not occur very frequently.

Finished very late last night. Was working on a proposal that is just not gelling together. I have all the data points. I have all that is needed – but the proposal itself lacks a soul… Grappling with it meant that I slept way past the witching hour. The proposal still isn’t done. Am stuck. Maybe tomorrow.

Getting up this morning and driving to town was tough. the roads are terrible. the Highway is shredded . I won’t go into a litany of my aches and pains caused by being on the road … suffice to say I will vote for any party or individual for BMC – who can guarantee me good roads and good civic infrastructure. This is ridiculous. Forget Shanghai – it will be good if Mumbai roads are as good as rural Maharashtra for roads ..

Post lectures was driving back to office via the worli sea face to catch the sea-link – the only 4 km stretch that has no pot holes in Mumbai. Traffic was moving smoothly till stopped by a bunch of guys in uniform. Armed Forces types. A massively monstrous vehicle (actually vehicles) were standing by to take a U turn.

30 day Project Day 28 -empty

All i could think of was “Wow, the Armed Forces are planning for the moon mission, and they have come to test out their vehicles in Mumbai”

Yes. I do tend to channelise my inner Calvin at times – lots of times..

Usually when I am driving – its ‘those little scenes from Calvin when he pretends to blow up the world … 😀 I look at vehicles that have just cut me from the left or two wheelers that are honking – and i wonder what it will take to de materialise them. ‘boom’ boom’ 😀

It took me almost an a hour and a quarter to get home from work – My office is 11 kms away … if not for Bhimsen Joshi singing Miyan ki Todi on the car music system, I am quite sure i would have been homicidal…. I was anyway half way there.

Reading had to be something light. Something that would make me laugh. And it was a collected edition of Calvin and Hobbes – an exhibition catalogue. The brothers had got it for me for a birthday – a few years ago. And whenever I am feeling low or exhausted – i take it out of the book shelf and savour a few panels. It usually reflects a state of mind .. Today’s was this 😀
