Interesting. This in the Guardian
In the aftermath of this week’s riots, a 23-year-old student with no previous convictions was jailed for the maximum permitted six months after pleading guilty to stealing bottles of water worth £3.50 from Lidl in Brixton.
Two centuries ago he would have been deported to Australia. A 100 years before that he would have been hung. 20 years ago he would have been sent for counselling … Today, If Mars had been colonised, this bunch would have possibly been sent there.
It must have been good to send their rejects here – it took care of their dysfunction. Clive didn’t get here because he was the best amongst them. he got here because he was amongst the worst.
The little horror bags that went on rampage on England are the ones who built the empire – amoral, violent, and with a sense of entitlement – don’t knock them.
Train them -send them into the armed forces, the police & the civil services – Britain needs them to renew.
Yes, I am horrified at the scenes that I saw. I was even more horrified at the police standing by and doing nothing. The first job of the police is not to protect criminal acts, but maintain order.
I lived in London for a decade – loved the city. Enjoyed every moment I was there. But, British society scared me. I was horrified at those horrendous highrises and the ghettos that the State created. Horrified at 14 year olds getting free housing by getting pregnant. At society funding kids who wanted to do nothing. Non parenting, non existing society and non existing state except to deliver handouts – what did you expect ?
and if those in power thought this won’t happen – then they were truly stupid.
That is the reason why I don’t oppose the way NREGA is implemented in India. Dig useless ditches. and build roads that go nowhere. But, understand very clearly it never will be “money for nothing”.
There are lots of reasons to oppose the Govt. of India – the way NREGA is implemented isn’t one of them (this is not about leakages, will handle leakages in a different post. This is about work to earn) …
