Ever since WordPress 4.8 was introduced, I have had serious problems. One with memory being clogged. The second with wordpress’s visual editor going walkies. As one of the best retorts on the WP Forums said (and you could hear the sheer frustration -) the best fix for wordpress 4.8, is wordpress 4.7 🙂
The forums are vague on this. There doesn’t seem to be one answer. I have done everything they recommended, but nada.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I checked each and every php file. In the auto ugrade process, many of them have gotten corrupted. Replaced each of them manually. Disabled the visual editor and installed WP-edit. rewrote some of the files – (by using other files as reference), and re-established my absolute faith in God – by writing code, I know nothing about, but which ends up miraculously working.
IT doesn’t work on chrome, but it does on Edge. Also, there seems to be a problem with Chrome. Lots of apps not working on it. I have issues with Flipboard on Chrome, and now WP. Let us see how the migration to Edge works. I
Worse case scenario – and I have my back ups in place – will delete the current installation, and go with a new one.
But, this is the second time in a three months this has happened. And, this seems to be a WP error, not a hosting error.
