Idiot culture

I was setting a paper for my students on culture, and i came across a brilliant quote by Bernstein - him of the Watergate fame -

“We are in the process of creating what deserves to be called the idiot culture. Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface and which can provide harmless fun; but the culture itself. For the first time, the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming our cultural norm, even our cultural ideal.”

And suddenly the whole world made sense. The metrosexual male, the times of india with its page 3, the endless sagas of idiot soaps on television.

It is invasion of the mind snatchers
