If you can get a virus on your mail, then it stands to reason that one day your cell will receive it. Afterall both deal with data, and if one can be prone to attack, so will the other.

NEW YORK — Russian anti-virus software developer Kaspersky Labs said Tuesday it has discovered the first-ever virus capable of spreading through cell phone networks.

If the Cabir virus penetrates the system, the word “Caribe” will appear on phone screens when the infected file is launched. The virus is activated every time phones are turned on. The virus will not destroy software but can scan for other phone numbers to send copies of itself. (Kyodo News)
