Yesterday the terrorrists bombed a whole bunch of Churches in Iraq. No that is not what is the glimmer of hope.
That is provided by the senior Iraqi Shiite Cleric – Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Husseini al-Sistani – who condemned the attack and said that the attacks

“targeted Iraq’s unity, stability and independence” and “We assert the importance of respecting the rights of Christian civilians and other religious minorities and reaffirm their right to live in their home country Iraq in security and peace,”

What was even more interesting was that the spokesman for radical Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr. condemed the bombings as being cowardly.

When was the last time we all saw the Islamic clergy come out against the terrorists who are spreading terror in the name of Islam? This for me is a ray of hope, because in my mind, the only people who can defeat terror in the name of Islam, are those who are the pious and the learned within Islam. The great powers of empires would not have as much effect, as the words of a man – who has dedicated his life to Islamic scholarship – who turns around and says this is wrong, because God says so.
