The very first episode of the show went on air today – the curtain raiser. Cogito’s first show on Hindi Entertainment television. I directed. Shishir was Technical Director and Shirish the Financial Controller. The first episode with Adi Godrej was supposed to go on air today.

The channel told us on Thursday that instead of running the first episode they want a Curtain Raiser – so that more time can be devoted to promoting the show. We agreed. And it has been a completely mad 3 days.

We shot with Shobhaa De on Friday – and the same evening we began our edit. We shot for 4 hours. Edited for 18 and last nights rush to the channel to deliver the tape was out of a film.Tempers were fairly frayed. I snarled at someone who asked why 18 hours for an edit of a 23 minute show.. I think i told him that he was talking like a MBA:).

To compound the confusion, dad got admitted back to hospital with a galloping heart rate. Was in the ICU, and now out of it.

But, all that’s well ends well. The show went on air. Apparently Samir Nair of STar viewed it and liked it. Feedback has begun. Mostly good. some constructive:).A lot of people have liked the sets and the lighting. They have liked the spontaniety of the show. I would like a better control on the content – which rambles when it comes to specifics. A lot of hard work coming up – and a tremendous balancing act – the channel , the assigned producers , us , and the anchor.

Everytime I do one of these completely crazy production schedules, my mind flashes the old Chinese curse – may you live in interesting times. I really must have fucked someone’s trip in my last life.

Need to start meditating again before I take someone’s head off!
